GCIS Invites Applications for Appointment to the Audit Committee

The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) invites suitably qualified and experienced professionals to apply for appointment as a Member of the Audit Committee. This appointment offers an opportunity to contribute to effective governance, oversight, and accountability within the public sector.

Position Details

  • Post Title: Member of the Audit Committee

  • Reference Number: 3/1/5/1-26/01

  • Location: Pretoria

  • Term of Office: Three (3) years, renewable for a further three years subject to performance

  • Meetings: Six meetings per annum (four ordinary and two special)

Remuneration

Remuneration will be in accordance with National Treasury Regulation 20.2.2, as issued in terms of section 38 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), 1999.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA

  • Proven experience as a legal practitioner, preferably at senior management or executive governance level

  • Demonstrated experience serving on Boards, Audit Committees, or Risk Committees (public sector experience will be an advantage)

  • Independence as a non-executive member, with no business or financial interests in GCIS

  • Availability and commitment to actively participate in Audit Committee activities

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform duties in line with the approved Audit Committee Charter, including:

  • Oversight of governance, risk management, and internal control systems

  • Evaluation of Internal and External Audit effectiveness

  • Review of financial and non-financial reporting processes

  • Monitoring compliance with applicable legislation and governance frameworks

  • Contribution to the combined assurance plan

  • Advising on IT governance and financial management practices

Additional Information

  • Applicants with foreign qualifications must submit a SAQA evaluation certificate
