Free State Department of Education Announces Multiple Job Opportunities for 2026
The Free State Department of Education has officially opened applications for several new vacancies within its Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) divisions. Published under Annexure W, these positions are intended to strengthen education administration, improve ECD data quality, and support the implementation of the eCares system throughout the province.
The closing date for applications is 4 June 2026, with most successful candidates expected to be based in Bloemfontein.
Senior Positions Available in Education and ICT
One of the key vacancies advertised is the Deputy Director: eCares Manager position, which offers a competitive salary package ranging from R932,292 to over R1 million annually. The department is seeking experienced professionals in Information Systems, ICT, Computer Science, or Data Management to oversee the implementation and management of the eCares platform.
Responsibilities for the role include coordinating system operations, managing user support, overseeing reporting and testing processes, and ensuring the effective performance of cloud-based education systems across the province.
The department is also recruiting for the position of Deputy Director: Early Childhood Operations Manager. This role focuses on improving ECD operations, including registration processes, subsidy implementation, and operational coordination between districts and provincial offices. Applicants with project management and leadership experience are encouraged to apply.
Focus on Data Quality and Reporting
To strengthen data management processes, the department has advertised an Assistant Director: ECD Data Quality Assurance Officer position. Candidates with expertise in data analysis, reporting systems, monitoring, and dashboard tools such as Power BI or Tableau will have an added advantage.
The successful applicant will support provincial reporting processes, improve data accuracy within the eCares platform, and provide training and support to district users.
Administrative and Support Opportunities
In addition to management roles, two Senior Administrative Officer positions are available for candidates interested in ECD administration and system support. These officials will assist with data management, system rollouts, user support, and training initiatives for ECD centres across various districts.
The department noted that strong computer literacy, communication skills, and data administration experience will be important for these positions.
Social Worker Positions Also Open
The department has further announced six Social Worker vacancies within the ECD Directorate. Qualified social workers with experience in community engagement, ECD compliance, and registration support are invited to apply.
Successful candidates will assist with ECD site visits, compliance monitoring, subsidy documentation, and maintaining digital records to support departmental processes.
