Department of Transport Vacancies 2026

The South African Department of Transport has officially announced new senior-level employment opportunities for experienced professionals seeking to grow their careers within the public sector. 1. Senior Specialist: State-Owned Companies Risk Profiling and Mitigation

The Department of Transport is currently recruiting a Senior Specialist within the Governance Services Chief Directorate to strengthen oversight and risk management across State-Owned Companies (SOCs).

Salary and Location

  • Salary: R1 494 900 per annum
  • Salary Level: 14
  • Location: Pretoria

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • An SAQA-recognized NQF Level 7 qualification in:
    • Risk Management
    • Auditing
    • Law
    • Accounting
    • Business Management
  • A minimum of 5 years’ senior managerial experience in:
    • Risk management
    • Fraud risk management
    • Internal auditing

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining shareholder risk management frameworks
  • Coordinating enterprise-wide risk management strategies
  • Overseeing anti-corruption and fraud prevention initiatives
  • Supporting SOC performance review sessions
  • Assessing financial risk applications submitted by SOCs
  • Advising shareholders on governance and operational risks

The role further includes collaboration with National Treasury and implementation of risk mitigation strategies across government entities.


2. Director: Human Resource Development and Performance Management

The Department is also seeking to appoint a Director within the Corporate Services Branch to lead human resource development and performance management initiatives.

Salary and Location

  • Salary: R1 266 714 per annum
  • Location: Pretoria

Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • An NQF Level 7 qualification in:
    • Human Resource Development
    • Human Resource Management
    • Industrial Psychology
    • Management of Training
  • At least 5 years of experience at middle or senior management level in HR development

Main Duties

The appointed Director will:

  • Oversee skills development programmes
  • Manage bursary and internship initiatives
  • Coordinate workplace skills plans
  • Develop employee training policies
  • Implement and monitor performance management systems
  • Conduct skills audits and compliance reviews

This position plays a critical role in strengthening workforce capability and improving departmental performance systems.
